Equipment

  • Blender or Food Processor: Essential for blending the mangoes and other ingredients into a smooth, creamy consistency.
  • Knife and Cutting Board: Used to peel and dice the mangoes safely and efficiently.
  • Vegetable Peeler (optional) Helpful for peeling mangoes, especially if you’re not comfortable using a knife for this task.
  • Spatula: Used to scrape down the sides of the blender and transfer the mixture into the container.
  • Freezer-Safe Container with Lid Needed to freeze the mango mixture and ensure it maintains its texture. A shallow, airtight container works best.
  • Ice cream scoop or spoon: For serving the sorbet into bowls or cones.
  • Citrus Juicer (optional) Handy if you’re adding lime juice for a tangy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 large Fresh Mangoes (approximately 2-3 cups diced)
  • ½ cup Coconut Milk or Yogurt (unsweetened)
  • 1-2 tbsp Honey or Agave Syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice (optional)
  • 2-3 tbsp Ice Cubes or Water (optional, for blending if needed)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mangoes
Peel the mangoes, remove the pits, and dice the flesh into small pieces.
  • Blend the Ingredients
Place the diced mangoes in a blender or food processor. Add ½ cup of coconut milk or yogurt, 1-2 tablespoons of honey or agave syrup (if needed), and 1 tablespoon of lime juice (optional). Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Adjust the Mixture
Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness or tartness as needed. If the mixture is too thick, add a little water or a few ice cubes and blend again until smooth.
  • Freeze the Mixture
Transfer the blended mixture to a freezer-safe container. Spread it evenly, cover it tightly, and freeze for at least 1-2 hours, or until firm but scoopable.
  • Serve and Enjoy
Let the sorbet sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly. Scoop into bowls or cones, garnish as desired, and serve immediately!

Notes

  1. Use Ripe Mangoes:
    • The sweetness and flavor of the sorbet depend heavily on the ripeness of the mangoes. Select mangoes that are fragrant, soft to the touch, and fully ripe for the best results.
  2. Sweetener is Optional:
    • If the mangoes are naturally sweet, you may not need to add any sweetener. Taste the blended mixture first before deciding to add honey or agave syrup.
  3. Coconut Milk or Yogurt:
    • For a creamier texture, use full-fat coconut milk or Greek yogurt. For a lighter version, opt for low-fat yogurt or a plant-based alternative.
  4. Blending Consistency:
    • Blend the mixture until it's completely smooth. If your blender struggles, add a small amount of water or ice cubes to assist with blending.
  5. Freezing Time:
    • Ensure the mixture freezes evenly by using a shallow container. For best results, stir the mixture once after 30 minutes in the freezer to improve the texture.
  6. Serving Tips:
    • Allow the sorbet to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving to make scooping easier and to achieve the ideal creamy texture.
  7. Storage:
    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer. Consume within a week for the best flavor and texture.
  8. Customization:
    • Add a splash of lime juice for tanginess, or experiment with other fruits like pineapple or passion fruit to create your own unique sorbet flavors.
These notes will help you achieve the best results and ensure your Mango Sorbet turns out perfectly every time!
